Collected my LONG over-due exhibition prints from Objectifs@Liang Seah St I thought they would have thrown it away by now! Thanks for letting me tompang them in your car over the dinner period ming! I would have died carrying it to Suntec and back.
Took a quick glance at the current exhibition, which included some really good shots and techniques, from the beginner to the more advanced courses. The standard of work has appeared to improve rather significantly across the board. There was a series on cut fruits that looked professional, highly delectable and at the same time, sexually imploring- I was amazed to discover it was taken by someone doing a basic photography course. There was also one which featured a bored housewife in various b/w poses wearing bright yellow gloves and handcuffed to everyday household items such as a vacuum cleaner. Also from basic photography. Decided I must start to actively pick up photo-making again, I've allowed myself to be stagnant for far too long. I shall wait for my photo-buddy to come back from HK!

Caught Butterfly with bohboh, hobbeez, mingming, chows+section, a tale about a pair of lesbian lovers, sexually indulgent, a signal of the changing times? some hippie/political unrest influences, and a very chio Stanley Ho's daughter. It's slow pacing at certain points in the movie induced me to nod off though. Tired la. Saw dex after the show. Haven't seen him for the longest time. Waved a little from a distance but he was smoking and I felt disinclined to walk over and make small talk seeing how I was already running late for dinner.

Was it worth it forgoing a FREE buffet full of oysters, sashimi, softshell crab, durian prata and whatnot at Plaza Hotel for this? With the fun company it's a definite yes. :)

Back at SIFF@Shaw Towers, this time for 5 Obstructions with cc, sh, and 5 of cc's friends, namely Weicheng, Lynn, Ailing, Yvonne aka Wenling, and Michelle aka Wenhui Am I right on this cc? I'm bad with names really.
Lars von Trier's documentary film experiment with Danish legendary filmmaker Jørgen Leth, in challenging him to remake his classic show, The Perfect Human, a total of 5 times with different parameters imposed upon him each time, produced startling results indeed. Read the review here. I particularly thought the 4th obstruction, the cartoon remake, was brilliant and encapsulated the use of stunning graphics.
Drinks at BK after was a friend-making affair, Ailing, Lynn and Weicheng were quite funny to talk to. Maybe I'll see them in NY?!? hahaha
There's more to say, like the walk to the busstop from Shaw Towers to the Stanford Rd busstop with sh, and the 2 hour-long psding session into the wee hours of the morning for my sis' wedding card, but I think this is all I can muster for now. Bumper blog for a bumper weekend!

For now, I am content to take a backseat, to let days pass by without much ado, without feeling intensely nor caring too much. Things have happened, lives have been lived, hearts have been broken but yet the world keeps on turning as it always has been since the beginning of time. It is cruel and heartless indeed, this world is, but so be it.
It is perhaps easier to experience life in this manner, encapsulated in a little self-imagined bubble that protects and resists all external flux and internal self-deprecating reproaches. In a seemingly out-of-body experience, I see my life passing by in a flash before my eyes. Do you feel the same emptiness in meaningless daily activities? You walk but your feet do not touch the ground; they glide past the surface of the earth weightlessly. You eat but taste is a foreign notion; sustenance is a practical endeavour. You laugh but the hollow ring echoes in the ears of those you keep company with; is a true smile impossible to fake? (Note: remember to depress the corners of your eyes when you smile- it's a signal of geniunity.)
It is a strange thing this is; the power of the mind. The mind has a strength that we often tend to overlook, in the same way that madness, being a disease of the mind, has the propensity to control within a narcissistic framework. Ever wondered why people naturally double or triple their strength when overcome by a bout of madness, such that it requires 3-4 able-bodied men to pin a single and frail but frantically struggling patient down? Sometimes it occurs to me that I can be more powerful than I already am, if I allowed myself to cross that excrutiatingly thin line between sanity and its polar oppositional state. Or perhaps with allowing you, the reader, to glimpse into the inner dark reccesses of my unstable mental faculty, I already have begun on that journey.
Why oh why can't my posts just be about fluffs and excesses and yummy food and happy anecdotes of life? Oh, look at the white cotton clouds floating by up in the sky! Reach out a hand to touch the pretty multi-coloured rainbow! Life is beayootifool, life is simple, life is satisfying! Like hell it is. And thus another shit day begins.
